I have sjogren's syndrome, dry mucous membranes, thus dry, crusty nose. I usually use pawpaw ointment in nasal passages and hope no virus can progress.

The best way, I think, is with a Birmingham Nasal Douche. Make up the sterile solution, in a 4 quart pot. Wait to cool and lay the Birningham Nasal Douche in it. It will fill up. Put your finger over the opening in the side and lift up making sure the solution stays in the douche. Tilt your head back. Place the smaller end in your nose (nostril). Lift your finger off the side port. The solution will run into your nose, and back out your mouth. You have to like close the back of your mouth off with your tongue so it doesn't go to your throat. And spit it out of your mouth. Easy peasy. Do for both nostrils.
