About time Trump was held accountable – in my opinion, for Jan 6
"A mob of insurrectionists violently attacked the U.S. Capitol on January 6th in order to halt the peaceful transfer of power and Trump started it.
Former President Trump announced on social media that he received a letter from special counsel Jack Smith saying he's a target of the grand jury investigating efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
Trump wrote that the letter, which he said he received Sunday night, gives him "4 days to report to the Grand Jury, which almost always means an Arrest and Indictment."
Between the lines: Democratic lawmakers had largely avoided weighing in on Trump's first two indictments. But the possibility of a third one — based on the Jan. 6 attack — is making them more vocal, Axios' Andrew Solender writes.
This time, it's personal: Members of Congress were targets of the Capitol attack. Many feel Trump evaded accountability when the Senate voted to acquit him.
"A mob of insurrectionists violently attacked the U.S. Capitol on January 6th in order to halt the peaceful transfer of power," House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) tweeted.
"The American people deserve to know the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth," he added.
It's a shift in tone for Jeffries, who reacted to the first two i
brief statements focused on the impartiality of the justice system.
By coincidence, a pretrial conference
is being held this afternoon in Fort Pierce, Fla.
Me: Trump incited The Proud Boys on the Jan. 6 attack, while he stayed in his hotel and partied, how come The Proud boys can get punished and Trump gets a free ride.
If Trump had not incited The Proud boys to wage war for him, then nothing would have happened and nobody would be in prison now, for in some cases long sentences, as a direct result of Jan 6.

My limited understanding is that Trump was in a hotel nearby and his followers including the Proud Boys who were there with him and Trump being Trump, well he was a sore loser and he agitated the Proud Boys and others up in the hotel and then they exited the hotel to take their anger out on whoever got in the way, leaving Trump in the hotel.
What better way to lead an insurrection than from the back - typical Trump.
But, for me, the bottom line is that because the Proud Boys got punished through the US Courts, then the person at the focal point of the whole thing, Trump, should get punished too, even though he was not in the group which entered the Capitol.
They would not have been there if Trump had kept his mouth shut and his opinions to himself.
Now I don't like "The Donald" he started the synthetic mRNA vaccines drive and even went as far as to call himself the father of vaccines, although he never had a vaccine himself.
Trump is as responsible for the injuries and deaths by vaccines as everyone else from Big Pharma down and you can be sure he got a huge payout from Pfizer amongst others, for his contribution in getting as many American's vaccinated, same as politicians everywhere when they leave politics.
Ultimately, Trump is a slippery fish and whichever way the Democrats and the political system call him to account, works fine with me.
It only takes ONE charge for him to be found Guilty of, to be Guilty of all - they had better hurry, he will probably die of old age before he gets penalized
I can’t believe you just said that. In the first place, if it were an insurrection where were their weapons? One person was outright shot by the-wait for it--capitol police. One lady was trapped in a tunnel and viciously beat by the police and smothered to death. The FBI had front men and agitators interspersed in the crowd. “Someone” tore down the barricades, and many people were arrested for simply walking beyond that point, having no idea it had been there. There is video of capitol police showing people around, standing and watching people walk by, opening the doors for them.
